The Proposal

It was a beautiful Saturday. The sun was shining and Brent was acting very strange. He was like a little boy that wanted everyone to go outside now and play!

He nagged May and I to try X-country skiing out in the backyard. We agreed but took our time getting ready. He eventually brought out a chair and plonked it in the snow and basked in the sunshine, his foot wiggling at superspeed the whole time.

I came out first, put on my skiis and headed off into the orchard. He wanted to know why I was headed in that direction. According to him I was going the wrong way. I simply explained that I was just warming up while waiting for May to join us.

Finally he got us going out into the back forty. May and I on skiis and Brent floundering in his big white boots as May was using his skiis. After skiing for all of 5 minutes, he stopped, turned around and said that May needed a break. A break? We just got going! He says, it's a beautiful spot for May to take pictures. May's scratching her head and thinking, like me, what's going on here?!

Brent is down in the snow and calling out to Siggy to come. Well, even Siggy wasn't playing right. He finally comes to Brent, and Brent mumbles to him, since parents aren't there to ask you'll have to do....I'm thinking he's lost it? what on earth is he mumbling about? and before I can blink Brent looks up at me and pops the question!
It was a very special moment indeed....and May caught it all on camera!
